Description
Prepare fabric for a fresh start with Rit Color Remover Powder — a chlorine-free treatment that removes or reduces existing colour so you can re-dye with truer, more vibrant results. It is ideal for changing the colour of garments, correcting dyeing mistakes, creating reverse tie-dye effects, or pre-treating faded or stained fabric before dyeing.
Unlike traditional chlorine bleach, Color Remover does not damage fibres, so the fabric remains strong and ready to accept new dye. It is also useful for removing dye stains from whites that were accidentally washed with coloured items, and for tackling certain food stains such as fruit juice, ketchup or tea on white fabrics.
Why choose Rit Color Remover:
- Removes or reduces existing colour for a dye-ready canvas
- Chlorine-free — safer on fibres than traditional bleach
- Ideal for re-dyeing projects, colour changes and correcting mistakes
- Helps remove dye stains from whites and some food stains
- Works best on cotton, linen, wool, rayon and ramie
- Safe to dye fabric after use
- One 2 oz (56.7 g) packet treats approx. 1 lb / 450 g of dry fabric
- Stovetop method recommended for strongest results
Important notes:
Results vary depending on the fabric and original dye. Color Remover will not remove printed patterns, logos or indigo from denim. It has limited or no effect on polyester, acrylic and acetate. Always work in a well-ventilated area and follow the full instructions on the packaging.
How to use (summary):
Pre-wash the fabric. On the stovetop, dissolve one packet in hot water (just below boiling), add the wet fabric and stir for 10–20 minutes until the colour lifts. Rinse thoroughly, wash with mild detergent, and dry before dyeing. Multiple packets are needed for washing-machine use.
